What's New

After taking a few years off to attend to increased responsibilities at home and at work, I am still slowly returning as an active beer crowncap collector. I am still in the process of completing some exchanges that were initiated a long time ago; to those that are still waiting for my replies, send me a message and I'll let you know of my progress...

Friends, please do not send me unsolicited packages of crowns. Let's first agree to the terms of an exchange by e-mail before sending packages of bottle caps to each other; that way there are no surprizes and everybody is happy...

As for managing The Beer Cap Page, I still have not had a chance to spend the time necessary to develop the new crowncaps.org domain. I have to finish my home improvement project by mid-February; once this is done I hope to rework the site's mission, vision and infrastructure. The main plan remains the same: TBCP will be an open project, managed by the bottle cap collector community. All those interested in contributing to the new site are encouraged to contact the webmaster. High-level information about the reform project will soon be posted on the TBCP website.

Although this page is in English, you may find difficulty in writing in this language. Feel free to write in any other language, and I will do my best to decipher it. Here at home, I can quickly reply to messages written in the following languages:

My Story

"I collect only undamaged beer crown caps, either used or unused. Undamaged means that I am not interested in crowns that are bent on top by a bottle opener; minor dents and scratches are OK with me. My collection currently stands at around 3500 different beer crowns, from 133 different countries and internationally-recognized sovereign territories.

I do not collect the following: non-beer crown caps; series, commemorative or special editions; vintage or older crowns; crowns that have different markings under the cap; or identical caps that only have small and unintentional variations (ie: minor shade differences of the same colour, different crown manufacturer logos, different sequence numbers on the skirt or sides of the cap).

My special interests are to have at least one beer cap from each beer-producing country in the world, and to have a complete current Canadian beer crown collection.

I can offer all types of crowns for exchange, in lots of 1 to 100+, in 1:1 (like-for-like) trade, but everything is negotiable. My main duplicate stock is crowns from Canada, a wide selection covering everything from micro- to mega-brewers. I can also offer exotic crowns, in exchange for crowns from exotic places (in similar geographical areas) that are not represented in my collection.  I look forward to hearing from you!"

I started collecting beer caps in January 1995. My original objective was to collect enough crowns (approximately 1300) to recover the bar counter in my basement, but I am looking far beyond that now. I store my collection in plastic sheets made for archiving 35mm photographic negatives, kept inside of a series of binders.

My cataloging of my collection is badly out of date, please bear with me as I set up a new way to manage it all, this is now in progress. I have started to set up a Microsoft Access database, with hopes to publish and expand the information on The Beer Cap Page. My duplicates are somewhat organized...

How about a trade?

  I can offer up to 100 Canadian beercaps, ranging from national brands to microbreweries, in an exchange.
• Neighboring countries -- Neighboring countries
  I have but a few US crowns to offer at this time. That being said, I have Canadian duplicates that come from breweries that are thousands of kilometers from where I live...
• Rest of world -- Rest of world
  This is my main area of interest at this time. In exchange for crowns from countries that are not represented in my collection, I can offer an interesting variety of caps from "remote" locations.
• Beer crowncaps -- Other collectibles
  I can offer other types of collectibles (stamps, matchbooks, coasters, etc.) in exchange for beercaps, especially to collectors from countries that are not represented in my collection.

Do you wish to simply send me crowns?

I would have to be crazy to refuse such generosity. If you are not a collector, and just wish to send some beercaps to someone that is silly enough to collect them, please feel free to send me any beer crowncaps you may have: I will put them to good use. Just let me know if I can send you something back, and I will do my best to help you out.
