Apparently, the more things change, the more they stay the same.
The Beer Cap Page went through another nine month period of dormancy in 1998,
partly due to a very heavy workload, and partly due to my added responsibilities with an
ever-growing family...
There are some projects that were proposed last year which I would still like to tackle, if only to keep some programming skills alive. I also look forward to facilitating crowncap identification and cataloging through the proposal of several standards and conventions.
Yet the future of this site is still in doubt. Although I hope to make some changes to this site over the next little while, I am not so sure about being able to perform the weekly maintenance tasks. With any luck on the former, a new and improved TBCP will not only foster interest in this site, but perhaps rekindle interest on the part of crowncap collectors as well as website developers.
As for the latter, I am hoping to find a way to either offload some of The Beer Cap Page, or to find a way to share some of the load with others that may be interested in contributing to this site. If you have any ideas, please feel free to contact me.
This past year has brought a great increase in crowncap images available on the web, a few aesthetic changes to some web sites (including TBCP), and a first attempt at a crowncap database. Hopefully 1999 will bring us even more, so that by the time we reach the new millenium crowncap collectors will have a free, cooperative and comprehensive information network at their disposal, via the Internet.
