One-of-a-kind.
18 inches. Paperclay
head and legs,
stuffed body over
wire armature.
When I started sculpting
this doll, I wasn't sure
what I was really doing.
The more I worked on it,
the more I began to see,
rising from the head, the look of
an old lady at the turn of the century.
Her
clothes are made
of antique silk and
cotton scarfs.
I guess she could
be a part
of The Miserables
(novel by Victor Hugo), but I prefer to think of her
as an old knitter
who sits in Paris parks and enjoys knitting for other
people. She works all day long,
listening to the birds
and
the rumors
of the city,
even it does not pay
much...
